Aja Ireland, an award-winning sound and performance artist, has garnered widespread recognition, including a feature on BBC Radio 6 with a spot on Tom Ravenscroft’s Ravers Hour Mix. Described in The WIRE as “shifting from ethereal diffusions to potent explosions,” Aja's live shows have captivated audiences across three successful UK and European tours, selling out multiple shows and headlining major festivals such as CTM, Sonic Acts, and Supersonic.
Following her recent explorations at the intersection of visceral sound design, club culture, and AI, Aja returns with her new album Cryptid via Infinite Machine. The high-impact album delves deep into themes of empowerment, resilience, and mysticism, fusing experimental soundscapes and club-ready energy to encapsulate Aja’s unique and confrontational artistry.
Cryptid has received widespread recognition, including a feature on BBC Radio 6 with a spot on Tom Ravenscroft’s Ravers Hour Mix. Aja was also featured in Notion’s “Undiscovered Artists of 2025,” and Cryptid was included in The Best Electronic Music on Bandcamp. The album has received press from Beatburguer, Louder Than War, Hitcher, Boomkat, Abyss Magazine, and Son of Marketing.
The Cryptid music video premiered on Kaltblut, which described it as “an audacious auditory experience intertwining noise, future trap, and experimental bass.” Bandcamp praised the album for delivering a “wholly original sonic palette,” while Beatburguer highlighted Aja’s ability to “freewheel through hyperpop, hard dance, drill, and grotty deconstructed club,” further establishing Cryptid as a boundary-pushing album that blends resilience, empowerment, and sonic innovation.
Collaborating with artist Joey Holder, the project captures an immersive installation featuring distinctive costumes by LULALOOP. Within the live set, a hardware setup of drum machines, synths, and effects pedals reigns, blending experimental electronic, deconstructed club, and industrial techno. Aja promises an improvised journey, delivering an avant-garde sonic experience.
