borguefül | vêtue
Following on from her first album, Horst, released in 2022 by Pagans and La République des Granges, Mélanie Loisel deploys again her musical language, blending refrains with a unique exploration of the double bass. This time, she pushes the boundaries of sound processing and bass preparation. Here, some compositions are built around rhythmic and percussive patterns, creating a multi-layered soundscape. We still find here a rich tapestry of textures and altered timbres, melodic cells where each harmonic resonates with the deep vibration of the bass frequencies.
The solo writing keeps its power, while also giving way to an improvisational, playful, and mischievous dimension. This new album follows a decidedly more narrative thread. The vibration travels differently, irrigating new channels. Populated with incantations and memories, the seven pieces of Vêtue invite a raw energy, both monumental and intimate. In this new opus, which features a more expressive voice and a double bass playing enriched with many variations, there are themes of rocks and clay, pebbles and a young girl, rabbits and a dry field. A multitude of images, all born from a childhood imagination.
